New Board of Executive Committee Appointed for the Free Media Movement.

The Annual General Meeting of the Free Media Movement was held on 27th May 2025 at the Sri Lanka Press Institute Auditorium and the new Convener for the year 2025/2026 was elected, Journalist Lasantha de Silva, Journalist Dileesha Abeysundara as Secretary, Media Trainer Ananda Jayasekara as Treasurer and Journalist R. Ramkumar as Assistant Secretary.

The Executive Committee elected for the coming year includes journalists and social activists Shan Wijetunga, C. Dodawatte, Hana Ibrahim, Sunil Jayasekara, T.M.G. Chandrasekara, Udaya Kalupathirana, Sujeewa Senarath, and Niranjani Roland.

Journalist Saroj Pathirana and social activist Shamini Boyle were elected as the new trustees.

The Free Media Movement remains dedicated to its mission of safeguarding freedom of expression and media independence in Sri Lanka. With this newly elected leadership, the organization is poised to continue its advocacy and initiatives with renewed energy and commitment.
